Performing Arts
We believe in educating the whole child. We believe that Performing Arts are indeed a core area in education and we seek to expose students to ways to express ideas and emotions outside of the classroom. Our Performing Arts Department teaches students the fine art of acting, voice, staging, dancing and technical design.
Often times, we see students who struggle to succeed in social, academic or sports and find themselves in this creative arena. We see children transformed on stage!
Goals that our Performing Arts Department foster include:
- Opportunities for individual self-expression
- Development of Artistic growth and artistic skills
- Appreciation for Musical Theatre
- Understanding of Creative Process that can be used in all walks of life
- Building of Self Confidence
- Skills in alternative ways to communicate
- Self satisfaction of the work ethics.
- Feeling of community with lower and middle school
- Artistic skills will help develop life skills
Our Theatre Department continues to expand. With our beautiful state-of-the-arts auditorium, our theatre productions continue to grow. Over the last 5 years, we have staged top quality productions such as "Fiddler on the Roof," "The Wizard of Oz," "Seussical: The Musical," "Peter Pan" and "Honk!" We bring in professional directors, choreographers and supporting staff to get these productions to rival professional theatre.
Our 2010 GHA Production of "Charlotte's Web The Musical" will be in our auditorium in March 2010. The final performance will be a gala event, complete with a post production party. This is one event you should not miss!
We accept every child who auditions and find a place for them to shine. Our product, our productions are excellent, but we are most proud of the process that takes us there. The cast becomes a family supporting and helping one another. Many graduates of our program come back year after year to remain involved. Many of our graduates choose to remain connected to the arts even choosing performing art universities.
The impact of these theatre memories have on our students are immeasurable!

In addition to musical and dramatic productions the Performing Arts department also puts on the GHA Talent Show. Our students sing, dance, play and share their talents with the school in an extraordinary day of creativity and showmanship.
