Overview
Students at GHA learn about themselves as well as learning about the world. Student council, physical education, after-school programs and other offerings help them find activities they enjoy so they can discover more about who they are as they have fun.
Drama
Each year, GHA’s students perform a professional play in the school’s performing arts center. Past performances have included “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Seussical: The Musical.” Professional directors and choreographers are brought in to give the musical the feel of a Broadway production. This year's play is "Peter Pan," which will be performed March 5,6 & 9th. The final performance will be a gala event, complete with a post production party. This is one even you should not miss.
Counseling Services
The counseling department helps students focus on their academic, personal/social and spiritual development. GHA’s school counselors have both mental health and educational backgrounds. They understand and respond to the challenges presented by our diverse student population. The counseling department provides proactive leadership that develops and implements curricula and services to help students succeed academically and be the best young people they can be.
Physical Education
Our physical education facilities include a full-scale gymnasium and outdoor playing fields. The program focuses on the students' physical, emotional, mental and social skills. Students learn about all aspects of healthy living, from nutrition to fitness and learn how to play a wide range of games and sports.
After School Programs
There is plenty to do at GHA even after the last bell of the day rings. Artists to athletes can stay after school for a host of activities. Club Kef (Fun) gives students a chance to play and work on homework while they are waiting to be picked up from school. Students are encouraged to finish their homework and study before they play. Club Kef is available everyday after school.
For those students who want to be nimble on their feet, dance and ballet lessons are held after school. An instructor guides the students through a series of lessons as the children learn the basics of both ballet and dance.
Young artists can paint all afternoon in the Art program taught by members of the GHA art faculty. From chalk to watercolors, a wide range of artists and their techniques are studied and learned in a relaxed, casual environment.
Playball is a program that promotes activity and physical exercise while teaching children about life. Students are divided into groups based on their ages and taught by coaches. Playball teaches children six different sports: soccer, tennis, volleyball, hockey, basketball and baseball.
