GHA Scholarship Program - ALEF Fund
Invest in a child’s Jewish education at virtually no cost to you!
New state legislation, called the Georgia Private School Tax Credit allows qualified taxpayers to receive a dollar-for-dollar state income tax credit. Donations to the ALEF Fund are allocated to Jewish children to attend GHA at virtually no cost to the donor. Invest in a child’s Jewish education today.
Your questions answered:
How is the education credit better than a tax deduction?
This credit gives you a dollar-for-dollar reduction in the amount you owe in Georgia income taxes. For example, if you donate $1000, your income tax bill will be reduced by the full $1000.
Should I give now or wait until the end of the year?
Please give immediately. The tax credit is capped at $50 million annually. Once the limit is reached, no future donations can be given.
If I am in the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) bracket, how does this program impact me?
You will receive a reduction in taxes greater than your donation!
What determines a child’s eligibility to receive this need-based scholarship money?
The child must be a Georgia resident transferring from a public school or entering kindergarten. The child must also meet GHA’s standard enrollment criteria and go through the tuition assistance process. If approved, GHA will receive money for the tuition assistance granted.
Contribution Amounts:
- Up to $1000 for a single individual
- Up to $2500 for a married couple, an S corp, or LLC
- Up to 75% of a C corp’s total income tax liabiliy
