Facilities
We cover lots of ground at GHA, scholastically and spacially. We are nestled in more than 18 wooded acres in Atlanta.
In the spring of 2001, we completed a third expansion to include a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center/Beit Meidrash in addition to our entire Arts Program. Complete with computerized sound and light booths, this 700-seat auditorium is the largest in the area, outside of a congregational sanctuary setting. And it's the only one of its kind for elementary age students in a Jewish day school. Student-produced and performed musicals and concerts are held in this beautiful auditorium.
The brand new art room, music room, 1200-square-foot drama room, and lower school resource rooms are also in this new wing.
Our library called the Arnovitz Library has achieved and been awarded Advanced level certificate of accreditation from the Association of Jewish Libraries. Students can further enhance their intellectual development in our fully computerized media center. With internet resources, video and audio tapes, and more than 23,000 general and Judaic volumes at their disposal, students have the ability to explore topic areas in depth and produce well documented work. A reading room welcomes all classes each week to the limitless world of reading.
Microscopes, telescopes and living animals all find their place in our newly-expanded science labs. Students, depending on grade level, find themselves in the ever changing, always exploring, exciting world of science.
GHA has three computer labs, one of which is open daily from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (except Friday afternoons) for students to do their schoolwork. All labs have state-of-the- art equipment and Internet capabilities.
And we use the internet to make it easy for parents and students to stay on top of things. Our faculty and staff make the most of Edline, a software program that allows students and their parents to view assignments, keep up with their grades, see a complete schedule of their tests and stay informed on class and school news.
Our full-size gymnasium is the home of our Physical Education Department. With one of two playgrounds just outside its doors, students can enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities.
Our Early Childhood Department (ECD) wing houses 3-year-old, 4-year-old and kindergarten classes and has facilities that far exceed Georgia Department of Human Resources requirements. Each classroom has two restrooms and separate storage rooms for cubbies, artwork and rest mats. A dairy kitchen is also located in the ECD wing which enables the children to expand their learning beyond classroom walls. They also have their own playground with age-appropriate equipment.
M'silot/Pathways is designed to help children who learn differently and is recognized for its excellence across Georgia and the nation.
Our on-premises afterschool program, Club Kef (Kef means fun in Hebrew) allows parents the peace of mind that their children are being stimulated and supervised in an extended day program (until 6:00 PM). Club Kef offers children exciting activities, supervised play and snack time in the comfort and safety of our wonderful school.*
Our nutritionist and kitchen staff prepares and serve nearly 700 lunches every day. With both meat and dairy kitchens, all appetites and special dietary needs can be accommodated. Menus are posted on Edline.
